Jean-Baptiste Fastrez is a French designer born in 1984, who graduated with honors from ENSCI - Les Ateliers, in 2010. After three years of collaboration with Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, he founded his own studio in 2011, where he explores projects ranging from limited editions to industrial design. His work, recognized for its ability to marry traditional craftsmanship with formal innovation, is exhibited in institutions such as the Centre Pompidou and the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. He has also collaborated with brands such as Kvadrat, Moustache, Sèvres - Cité de la céramique and Galerie kreo.
In 2025, Fastrez initiated his first collaboration with CVL Luminaires, creating the Candy collection. This series showcases the company's expertise in working with tubular brass, combining clean lines and refined finishes. Each piece is highlighted by a lacquered spiral motif, reminiscent of candy canes, adding a playful touch to the ensemble. Available in pendants, wall lamps, table lamps and spotlights, the Candy collection illustrates the balance between technical sophistication and visual poetry.
Jean-Baptiste Fastrez's work is distinguished by an approach in which materials are often the starting point for his projects, inventing new stories by transferring technical know-how from one typology to another. His work is included in the permanent collections of the Centre Pompidou, the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris and Bordeaux, the Villa Noailles in Hyères and the CNAP (Comité National des Arts Plastiques).
