Founded in 2005 under the creative direction of Omer Arbel, Bocci is committed to fostering a lateral and open relationship between creative direction and craft.
Based between Vancouver and Berlin, Omer Arbel cultivates a fluid position, between the fields of architecture, sculpture, invention and design. Central themes in his work include the intrinsic mechanical, physical and chemical qualities of materials and the exploration of light as a medium.
The company was launched with a lighting design, titled "14," which became an instant classic and design staple as well as a best-seller for the brand.
Bocci's sculptural lighting collections are developed, designed and manufactured in-house, using an infrastructure calibrated to allow for total control of technique, quality and scale.
In 2015, Bocci transformed a historic building in Berlin into a showroom and archive. The 'Bocci 79' lighting fixture inhabited a 2,200-square-meter former courthouse built in 1896 and showcased more than a decade of Omer Arbel's work, ranging from pieces in progress, prototypes and ideas, to the full range of catalog pieces developed for Bocci.
